The six seasons in English are Spring, Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, Pre-Winter and Winter. In Hindi, these seasons are also known as Vasant, Grishma, Varsha, Sharad, Hemant and Shishir. Every season has its own beauty and special things. Children also enjoy different activities in different seasons. For example, we like eating ice cream in summer and sitting in sunlight during winter.

India is a big country and the weather can be different in different places. But traditionally, Indian seasons are divided into six main seasons. Each season stays for about two months. The weather does not always change on the same date because nature changes slowly. Still, these six seasons help us understand the weather of India in an easy way.

    1. SPRING SEASON

The first season is Spring. Spring is a very beautiful season. It comes after the winter season. The weather becomes pleasant and the cold slowly goes away. The days are not very hot and nights are also comfortable. Many trees and plants start growing new leaves during this time.

Spring is also called the season of flowers. Many flowers bloom in gardens and fields. We can see beautiful colors everywhere. Birds also become active and we can hear their sweet sounds in the morning. Butterflies fly from one flower to another flower. The trees look green and fresh.

Children like the spring season because they can play outside for a long time. The weather is not too hot and not too cold. We can go to parks and enjoy ourselves with our family and friends. Spring is also good for farmers because many crops grow well in suitable weather.

In India, spring is generally seen around February and March. However, the exact weather can be different from one place to another. In some places spring can be short, while in some places people can feel pleasant weather for a longer time.

Spring teaches us that after cold and difficult days, beautiful days can come again. It makes nature look fresh and happy. I like spring because there are flowers everywhere and the weather feels very nice.

    2. SUMMER SEASON

The second season is Summer. Summer comes after spring. It is one of the hottest seasons of the year. In India, summer can be very hot, especially in northern parts. The sun shines strongly in the daytime and people feel tired because of the high temperature.

Summer generally comes around April and continues till June. In some places, the temperature becomes very high. People like to stay inside their homes during afternoon. They use fans, coolers and air conditioners to get relief from the heat. People also drink more water, juice, lemonade and other cold drinks.

Children enjoy summer vacation in this season. They get a break from school and spend time with family. Some children visit their grandparents or go to another city for holidays. Many children like swimming because it helps them feel cool. Eating mangoes is also one of the best things about summer. Mango is called the king of fruits and many people wait for this season to eat fresh mangoes.

During summer, we should take care of our health. We should drink enough water and eat fresh fruits. We should not stay outside for a very long time in the hot afternoon. We should wear light cotton clothes and use an umbrella or cap when going outside.

Summer is also important for farmers because crops need sunlight and warm weather. But too much heat can be difficult for people, animals and plants. Trees give us shade and help to make the surroundings cooler. So we should plant more trees and take care of them.

    3. MONSOON SEASON

The third season is Monsoon. It is also called the Rainy Season. Monsoon comes after the hot summer in most parts of India. People wait for rain because it gives relief from the heat. When the first rain comes, the weather becomes cooler and the earth looks fresh.

The monsoon season is very important for India because many farmers depend on rain for farming. Rain gives water to rivers, lakes, ponds and fields. Crops need enough water to grow properly. Good rainfall can help farmers to grow healthy crops.

During the monsoon, the sky becomes cloudy and we can see dark clouds. Sometimes there is thunder and lightning. Children like to see rain from their windows and enjoy making paper boats. Small plants and grass become green after getting rain water. Roads can become wet and sometimes water collects on the streets.

Rain is very useful, but too much rain can also create problems. Heavy rainfall can cause floods in some areas. Roads can become full of water and traffic can become slow. People should be careful while travelling during heavy rain.

We should keep our surroundings clean during the rainy season. Dirty water can become a place where mosquitoes grow. We should not allow water to stay near our homes. We should also drink clean water and keep food covered.

Monsoon is a beautiful season because the trees become green and the air feels fresh. Farmers are happy when there is good rainfall. Rain is one of the most important gifts of nature.

    4. AUTUMN SEASON

The fourth season is Autumn. It comes after the monsoon season. The heavy rain slowly stops and the sky becomes clear. The weather becomes pleasant again. The days are not as hot as summer and the air starts becoming cooler.

Autumn is known for clear blue skies and beautiful weather. Trees and plants look fresh after receiving rain. In many places, the weather becomes very comfortable for outdoor activities. People enjoy going to parks, markets and different places with family.

During autumn, some trees may start losing their old leaves. The new season slowly prepares nature for the coming winter. The temperature starts going down, especially in the morning and evening.

Autumn is also connected with many festivals in India. Different parts of India celebrate different festivals during this time. People decorate their homes, wear new clothes and meet their relatives. Children enjoy holidays and celebrations with their families.

The weather during autumn is good for travelling because there is less rain in many places. People can enjoy outdoor activities without very hot weather. The sky can look very beautiful during this season.

Autumn tells us that nature is always changing. One season ends and another season starts. We should enjoy every season and learn something from nature.

    5. PRE-WINTER SEASON

The fifth season is Pre-Winter, also called Hemant in the traditional Indian season system. It comes after autumn and before winter. This season is like a preparation time for the cold winter.

During pre-winter, the weather slowly becomes colder. The mornings and evenings can feel cool. People start taking out warm clothes from their cupboards. We may start wearing light sweaters and jackets, especially in the morning and evening.

The days can still be comfortable and sunny. Many people like sitting in the sunlight because it gives warmth. Children can enjoy outdoor games because the weather is not very hot.

Nature also starts changing during this season. Some trees lose their leaves and the air becomes cooler. In northern India, people can feel the coming winter more clearly.

Pre-winter is a short and pleasant season. It helps our body slowly adjust to colder weather. We can enjoy the sunshine, fresh air and comfortable days before the winter becomes stronger.

Farmers also prepare for winter crops during this time. Different crops are grown according to the climate and farming conditions. The fields can look green and beautiful.

    6. WINTER SEASON

The sixth and last season is Winter. Winter is the coldest season of the year. It generally comes after pre-winter. In northern India, winter can be quite cold. The mornings may have fog and the temperature can become low.

People wear sweaters, jackets, coats, caps and warm socks during winter. We like drinking hot milk, tea, soup and other warm things. Many people enjoy sitting in the sunlight during the morning. Children also like wearing colorful winter clothes.

Winter is a good season for many outdoor activities because there is no strong heat. People can enjoy picnics and travelling. However, very cold weather can be difficult for poor people, old people and animals. We should help people and animals who need warm clothes or a safe place.

Winter also brings many beautiful days. The sky can look clear after fog disappears. In some parts of India, people can see snowfall during winter. Places in the Himalayan region become very cold and snowy.

Winter is also important for many crops. Farmers grow different winter crops and take care of their fields. Vegetables like carrots, peas, cauliflower and spinach are commonly enjoyed in winter in many parts of India.

I like winter because I can wear warm clothes and sit in sunlight. I also like eating hot food with my family during cold days.

    WHY ARE SEASONS IMPORTANT?

Seasons are very important for our earth. They help nature to work in a natural cycle. Different plants need different weather for growing. Farmers also choose crops according to the season. If there was only one type of weather all the time, many plants and animals would have problems.

Seasons also change our daily life. In summer, we use fans and coolers and drink more water. In monsoon, we use umbrellas and raincoats. In winter, we wear sweaters and jackets. So, our clothes, food and activities also change with the seasons.

Animals and birds also change their behavior according to weather. Some animals look for cool places during summer. Birds may build nests and take care of their young ones during suitable weather. Plants also grow new leaves, flowers and fruits according to the season.

Seasons make our world beautiful. If we look around, we can see that nature has many different colors and forms. Spring has flowers, summer has bright sunshine, monsoon has green trees, autumn has clear skies, pre-winter has cool air and winter has cold mornings.

    SEASONS AND FESTIVALS IN INDIA

India is known as a country of many festivals. Many festivals are celebrated in different seasons. People enjoy festivals with their families and friends. Festivals bring happiness and make people feel connected with each other.

Different areas can celebrate festivals in different ways. The weather also affects how people celebrate. During pleasant weather, people can spend more time outside. During hot weather, people prefer staying in cooler places. During winter, people enjoy warm food and sunlight.

Festivals also teach children about Indian culture and traditions. We learn to respect our family, friends and other people. We also learn that every season has something special to enjoy.

HOW CHILDREN CAN ENJOY EVERY SEASON

Children can enjoy every season if they take proper care of themselves. In summer, children can play in the morning or evening instead of going outside in the very hot afternoon. They should drink enough water and eat healthy food.

During monsoon, children should be careful on wet roads. They can enjoy the rain from a safe place and make paper boats. They should keep their school bags and books away from rain water.

During autumn and spring, children can enjoy parks, gardening and outdoor games because the weather is usually pleasant. They can observe flowers, birds and trees and learn about nature.

During winter, children should wear warm clothes and avoid staying outside for too long during very cold mornings. They can enjoy sunlight and play outdoor games when the weather is comfortable.

Every season gives us a chance to learn something new. We can observe how trees change, how birds behave and how the weather changes around us.

    CONCLUSION

There are six main seasons in India and every season has its own beauty. The six seasons are Spring, Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, Pre-Winter and Winter. Some seasons are hot, some are cold, some bring rain and some bring flowers.

I think all seasons are important because nature needs every type of weather. Farmers need rain and sunlight for their crops. Plants need different weather to grow. Animals and birds also live according to the changing seasons.

We should enjoy every season and also take care of our environment. We should plant more trees, save water and keep our surroundings clean. If we protect nature, we can enjoy beautiful seasons for a long time.

The change of seasons also teaches us that change is a normal part of life. After summer comes rain, after rain comes autumn, and after autumn comes winter. Then spring comes again and nature becomes fresh. This cycle continues every year.

So, we should not complain about every season. We should enjoy the special things of each one. Summer gives us mangoes and holidays, monsoon gives us rain, spring gives us flowers, autumn gives us clear weather, pre-winter gives us cool air and winter gives us warm clothes and sunny mornings.

All six seasons are beautiful in their own way, and together they make the year interesting and colorful.
